Kathmandu The ancient
stonespout was found in the World Property Area Swayambhu some 300 years ago.
Locals had informed the Archaeological Department about a month after the stone
was ejected when the road was buried during the extension of the route one
month ago. After the on-site study, the department informed that the stream was
older than the Middle Ages.
"The structure of the stream does not match the stone culture of the Kathmandu valley," said Bhasnarayan Dahal, director general of the department.
According to the department, the head of the stone in the Kathmandu valley is Capricorn-shaped as it is found in Swayambhu and the head of the Ranga is built in shape. This kind of stream is still found in western Nepal.
Principal Archaeological Officer of the department, Subhagan Pradhan, said that the stone structure was not compatible with the medieval and Lichvik period. 'Kathmandu valley can be found in the Lichchwi and Malla-era stones, but it is not possible to know for what time,' she said.
She said that a detailed study should be done to find out exactly what time it looks like. She also pointed out that there was no settlement in the area where the stream was found. 'Normally, it would be advisable to visit the stonespouts to have a good settlement at that time,' he added, 'but that may not be the case. At first there might be an old Goretto going to Swayambhu. The stream may have been used by the visitors to drink and water. '
According to an archeological officer of the department, stones have been found in the western part of the country. 'The head of the beetles found here has come down from the shape,' he said, 'but in the Kathmandu Valley, the historical stone found in the Kathmandu Valley looks like Capricorn.'
The department team said that after inspecting the site, it will cooperate with the local and protect it. "It has been found lying on the ground floor," said Dahal, adding that if we keep it there, the stream should be kept in a visible state.
Local Ashok Tuladhar said the department was informed when stones were found digging the road. "Earlier we heard that there were stones, he said, 'When we tried to widen the road, we got here and we informed the department,' he said.
According to locals, the stream has not been flooded much. 8-year-old Vishnu Devi Shahi said, 'When we were young, we used to bathe here, it was the custom to worship the water by taking water here. Two streams had to fall into the stream. The stream was too long. '
The locals say that the historical stream has been filled up due to the lack of care of the stonespouts even when making the road and the adjacent Kimdol Awakening Drinking Water Committee. The coordinator of the committee, Champa Lama, said that the stonespout was near the tank when the tank was constructed in five years.
